Learn How to Buy a Dog

Learn How to Buy a Dog

by Calvin Wapasa

If taking home a pet is not something that you have decided seriously, then you better not take your kids into a pet store or you will only end up perpetrating one of life's greatest mistakes. You shouldn't be surprised seeing your kids getting hooked and attached with the cutest puppy that they can find.

You just can't say no since you will be given with a puppy that looks so sweet with its wet brown eyes which seems to beg you to take him home together with your wailing kids who are just ready to throw their tantrums provided you get them what they wish. Aside from the unstoppable cries of your children, you will likely find yourself remembering the past particularly those moments that you had with your family dog - you're paying for a shopping cart full of dog stuff - plus the pup.

There's no greater buyer's remorse than that felt after buying a dog on impulse. Only then, after several days of bonding with the dog, that you will find out that the character of the dog is not something that could fit your household's way of life. Then, you tend to start taking the dog for granted since you will no longer have the tendency to take him for a walk or devote your working hours just to feed him. The feeling is like having another unwanted child in the family. Those little puppy accidents, chewed furniture, night-time barking and other normal dog behaviors become more and more irritating. That's the point where some dead dog owners punish the dog to the point of abuse or negligence.

Many dogs who were victims of a whim buying done by some families or an adult taking for granted the true essence of owning a dog usually end up in shelters. Being educated about certain facts that has something to do with the dog such as its traits and possible future size was not the thing that those kinds of owners considered since they were so amused with the cute and marvellous features of the pup. In a matter of months, the conflict begins. It is not completely the fault of the dogs why they were sent to pounds and usually, many of them are prospective pets provided that the right family would adopt them. The main offense for that was simply because the wrong kind of household who were not actually serious about taking home a dog chose them in the first place.

The degree to which dogs require, differs from one breed to another. Some of them need a lot of hours playing and bonding with you in a day to day basis. If you don't provide it, they find it on their own - and it usually involves chewing or barking. Other dog breeds need daily room to run and play. If you want your children to have some special companions, then these kinds of dogs can really serve them well. Some dogs which you can see play well and interact better with older kids may tend to feel awkward with the kind of interaction that younger kids would give them. You simply need to know what breed of dog is the best match for your home, family and available time.

Slow down as you visit dog breeders or pet stores and spend time seeing the dogs. Hearing the puppy bark with excitement and seeing those pleasing brown eyes which seem to beg you can really break your heart once you leave that pet store, but you want to make certain that when your dog comes home, this really becomes home for the dog, and not just another place to pass through. Let your kids stay at home if you don't want to commit any errors of taking the wrong dog home since you can actually collect a lot of information regarding the dog's breed and other important details concerning it without any further troubles. - 20511
