The first white German shepherd dog registered in the American Kennel Club was way back in 1917. Although Hector, considered as the father of all the German shepherds already existed in the late 1890s, breeds with pure white strain came later. It was in the year 1912 when Anne Tracy imported the first German Shepherds into the United States that the little white litters showed up.
It was in the year 1917 that the first trace of the White German Shepherd breed that was registered in the American Kennel Club. Although the said father of all the German Shepherds existed in the later part of 1890s, the pure white strain breed emerged later. They were said to be imported by Anne Tracy into the United States.
Recent genetic studies revealed that the white color associated with the White German Shepherd dogs is completely unrelated to albinism. The white code in the genes is fundamental to the overall conformation of the dogs breed color. The risks of breed color paling or genetic health defects that breeders feared was never proven to be related with the white color.
As opposed to the sturdy look that they create, male White Shepherds are less coarse and females are not overly refined. The negative exaggerations associated with this breed were never proven and that they can become the best companion dog. If given the exact and proper care, they can live longer to about 14 years.
Studies revealed that the white code found in the genes of the White German Shepherd dog is a fundamental part of the entire conformation of its breed color. They also found out that it was never related to albinism or any other abnormalities. The white color is perfectly normal as opposed to what the breeders have feared.
Although these dogs may appear like dominating ones, males are less coarse and females are not overly refined. As opposed to the negative exaggerations associated with the White German Shepherd dogs, they can become very good companions. If properly raised in a good home, these canines can live up to its full potentials for about 14 years.
