Discover Purebreds, Mutts and Designer Dogs Today

Discover Purebreds, Mutts and Designer Dogs Today

by Mike Jones

There have always been mixed breed dogs that differ in looks, disposition and size even when they come from the same set of offspring. Usually these dogs are referred to as "mutts" and they are much beloved. They ordinarily have good health and they make great pets.

A mixed breed dog is not a purebred and it may not be known if the parents of the dog are purebreds. They are basically dogs from an unidentified heritage and a uncertain genetic line. They are frequently sharp and wonderful and they make great pets but their lineage is unidentified.

A purebred on the other hand is a dog that has two parents that are both of the same breed. Many times there are extensive records of the heredity of these dogs and breeders are very shrewd in their breeding techniques to make sure that they turn out the strongest heritable tendencies.

You may choose a purebred for a pet or you may desire a mutt. A mutt will usually have robust health and they do make wonderful pets but a purebred has certain qualities that are bred in. There also is another alternative that you may consider and that is the hybrid dog or the "designer dog".

Hybrids are a cross of two purebred dogs from two distinct breeds. They are distinct from a mutt because their family tree is well-known. Each of their parents are purebreds with hereditary lines that can regularly be traced back many generations.

Hybrid dogs are becoming rather the fashion these days. You see them in all places from movies to dog shows. These dogs tend to have the best personality from both of the breeds and usually a good blend of both breeds.

These hybrid dogs regularly have really cool names such as a cockapoo for a cocker and poodle combination, a puggle, which is a pug and beagle combination, a goldendoodle, which is a golden retriever and poodle combination and of course, many other fun mixtures of the two purebred names.

The designer hybrid dogs make excellent pets and you usually end up with the best of two breeds. They tend to have resilient health and they are clever and pleasing to have. - 20511
