Discovering the best pet for your one of a kind home

Discovering the best pet for your one of a kind home

by Mary Zweigelitz

Sometimes people have a good idea of exactly what type of furry friend they want around the house. Taking good care of that pet can be an awfully big job however. Knowing how to choose the correct pet for you may be simple. You may have had many dogs as a kid and know you need a companion for your own house. You may have always wanted a dog but been told you could not get one. Whatever the case, you may need to rethink some key points to pet care when deciding what pet is right for you.

Some kinds of pets take more time than others. Dogs are very needy animals. They are very sensitive towards their owners. I am sure most of you have heard of dogs tearing up a home when left alone all day. Dogs can get bored even when they have other dogs to play with. They really require the human interaction. Most dog owners take their dogs out for a stroll before work and after work for some exercise and play time. Other dog owners who work outside will often let their dogs come to work with them to keep them out of trouble.

Kitties are normally less destructive than dogs. Unlike their dog brethren, kittens should entertain themselves easily with a few well selected cat toys. When they don't feel like being energetic, they are likely to find something less troublesome to do like pass out or just gaze out of a window.

One very important factor depending on what type of animal you intend to select is how much care they will require. They need attention from people, positive reinforcement, training, and love. Fish are normally excluded from this statement, as they just need a few plants, oxygen, proper tank maintenance, and a little food. But, the point is that adequate pet care is necessary when you own any pet regardless of what type. The decision will be yours alone to make in choosing what the right animal is for your house. Don't ignore how much of your personal time it will take to really care for your loved one.

Although dogs can be very high maintenance compared to other pets, they also offer some advantages. One of the things dogs do for you that other pets normally don't is act like a personal bodyguard for you and your whole family. It is nice to know that you always have someone else helping on your side. They are larger than most other animals also. You need to make sure you have somewhere to protect them where they aren't exposed to extreme weather conditions.

Cats can be high or low maintenance depending on their breed as well as demeanor. Some cats require hours of owner's attention while others don't want attention. Some cats belong to a one pet home. They don't like to share their owners affections and will become upset when there are guests around. Others need the master's attention to live happily. It will be hard to determine just which type of cat you own when you first get them as little kittens. Their personalities are just developing. You wont really know her until she gets older. - 20511
