It is but a desire of everyone to find a pet that's dependable, highly intelligent, adorable, and plausibly industrious. Having a pet with such characteristics makes our lives undeniably a lot easier and happier for the fact that finally, we have a companion that we can depend on and who will be loyal to us. These and more are what the Australian Shepherd breed is made of so adopting this pet is definitely a good if not the best choice you will make.
The Australian Shepherd or simply Aussie, is a medium built with medium length coat creature. The name may be seemingly Australia but in fact, this breed appeared from the spectacular Pyrenees Mountains of either Spain or France. In the 1800s, it was introduced in the United States from Australia and that's the reason for its territorial name, however, it is only at this arrival that it began to gain popularity and went through development in breeding.
The Australian Shepherd, also amusingly called Aussie, is noted not only for its sharp intelligence and bursting energy but most importantly, for its natural and outstanding herding and guarding abilities. These qualities are forever dented in their souls that even if those breed that weren't actually exposed for such jobs or environment, the inborn instinct for herding and guarding still comes out whenever they chance upon a flock.
In a farm, the Aussie is an outstanding work dog doing every task industriously and expertly such as herding livestock, searching and rescuing lost cattle, and obeying the master whole-heartedly. Inside the house they are amiable and loyal to the family and endlessly playful to the children, however, they are naturally suspicious of strangers but this temperament makes them a prime guard dog. The Aussie is also remarkable in having a possessive and protective nature towards its masters that's why you will see them always adoringly tailing and following their masters around!
Aussies have a strong need to guard and protect the family that owns them that's why, with the insufficiency of proper training, this disposition may become unreasonable and direct less and they may become stubborn and unreasonably vicious in watching over you. Aussies that have unfocused energies and untrained dispositions will demand and consume much of your time and attention and this can prevent you from doing some of your important tasks. In terms of being very possessive and wary of strangers, this breed needs to be introduced to new people often so as to open their minds to the possibility of new friends.
For this breed, a daily regimen of intense physical and mental exercise is a must so as to plant a pleasant attitude in them. They need to be obedience trained to instill focus and they need to be given lively tasks to give them a sense of purpose. Being inborn super active, they must be freed from time to time in to an open field to use that huge ball of energy inside them.
If Aussies are owned by a family having a calm lifestyle, this could take an extra effort because of the activities that the dog has to undergo. This dog needs a wide open place for running, jumping, and rough-housing. When not in training, however, they need to be sheltered in a fenced area for the sight of children and other dogs will overwhelm them forcing their herder nature to come out.
Aussies, also known by choices of names such as Spanish Shepherd, Pastor Dog, Bob-Tail, Blue Heeler, New Mexican Shepherd, and California Shepherd; are wonderful animals and are clearly great companions. For those who have an outgoing and active lifestyle, this dog can surely keep up with the activities; actually they will utmost love it. With proper training and good exposure, they can champion not only your heart but everyone else's as well. - 20511
