Dogs have always been part of our lives and because of that they are very important to us. Most pet owners treat their dog as one of the family and that is as it should be. These days people make it a regular thing to go to the doctors for check ups. It saves there being any nasty surprises for us later down the road. Both to our pocket book and of course our ongoing health. Well your pet is no different, there are lots of illnesses that are common in dogs. He needs regular visits to the vet to check out his health as well. Emergency vet bills can be expensive and they could possibly have been avoided.
As a puppy your dog would have been vaccinated against most if not all of the natural diseases that dogs can get. But if he is to remain in good health, he will require booster shots of the vaccinations, to ensure that he stays healthy. Without them he is at high risk to become ill.
Ear mites are something that are very common with dogs. You should have your dog seen by a vet on a regular basis in order to keep these infestations under control. A vet will be able to tell you how severe it is, and they will prescribe you the appropriate treatment.
There are two infestations that we all wish our dogs did not get. They are fleas and ticks. These can be very annoying, painful and sometimes a health hazard to your dog. As well as we humans can suffer from our dogs infestation of these mites. But with the proper preventative measures there is no reason for this problem to become severe.
Another one of the common ailments for dogs is worms. They are easily treated, but you should still seek the assistance of a vet because there are many types of worms, which only your vet is qualified to diagnose.
The dental health of your pet is also very important. Vets will often clean your dogs teeth for you and show you how to do it properly. Have your vet check your dogs teeth regularly to avoid bacteria from spreading.
I know that as a dog owner you only want the best for him. You want him to live a long and happy, healthy life. So please take the preventative measures that we have touched on here. He deserves to be cared for properly and then means regular health visits to the vets. Even if he seems in the best of health. Don't leave it until it's too late.
Vets are trained to notice and help cure many ailments long before things even go wrong. Under the proper watch and care of a trained veterinarian, your dog is sure to grow old and have a long and happy life. - 20511
